Ebay Description:

Completely redone is what I believe to be a Dick Dean Shala fiberglass buggy (I don’t know if there were any reproductions). Modeled after his famous off road racer called the Shalako, Dean built a fiberglass version for mounting on a shortened VW pan using VW running gear. Restoration included the fabrication of a new rear body frame, new panels in the pan, a lowered front end and extensive body work. The gull wing doors were restyled like the full gull wing doors of the Shalako to facilitate easier entry and exit of the car. The door latches were concealed in the fender wells. Original Porsche 356 engine grills were mounted in the rear body section. The rear body section has an electric lift for easy engine access. An overhead instrument consol was added with gauges and switches. There are new tires and rims all the way around. The engine was completely rebuilt using 87 mm pistons and cylinders, mild street cam, dual relief case, big valve dual port heads (40x35) and dual Del Orto carburetors. Lots of chrome engine dress up. It is painted metallic blue and clear coated. The paint is not perfect as it has a few nicks but is very presentable. There are no side windows but could easily be added.

This car may require some modification if you are taller than 5’10”. I am 5’8” and slip right in. Don’t miss your chance to own this very unique, one of a kind sports buggy.
