somehow red just seems out of place on these kits.

Ebay Description:

This is a very low mileage beautifully built fiberglass replica of a 1952 MGTD on a VW chassis/motor. It has less than 2500 miles since completed in 1985 and has been stored in a heated garage. Wood steering wheel and dash, interior as new. Body and paint excellant except for one spot in rear at engine compartment where exhaust pipe has scorched fiberglass. This is pictured below and is about 1 1/2" in diameter. I was going to cut this out with a hole saw and line the opening with a chrome trim to keep the clearance from the exhaust pipe. This is hardly visible with the engine cover closed because it is at the bottom right side and small. Everything else with the body and paint is great. The car runs well, is cold blooded. Must warm up several minutes before driving. This is typical of the VW motor. I am not the builder. I purchased it from the second owner. They advised me that it was built by an elderly gentleman who passed away shortly after completion. They said VW motor and drivetrain was completely rebuilt at time of build. Engine is VERY clean. Leaked no oil during winter storage. They purchased it and when I bought it from them it had 1988 miles on it. I have just sold another car, I am selling this so that I can invest in another vehicle I have found. Really a pleasure to drive, gets many stares and comments. I have entered it in car shows. Has a white top but no side curtains. I never put the top on it, only driven in good weather. The top has zipper on each side for side curtains so they could be made if desired. Tires are great, no mechanical problems with the car. Has very nice sounding exhaust also. I have a car trailer and will deliver up to about 250 miles from my home, figure from Celina, Ohio 45822, for 50 cents a mile roundtrip. You may pick up or arrange transportation. If you would like to see the car before bidding email me, I will email back my cell phone number. If you have questions I will also provide you with my cell number so that we can talk rather than email. This is as close to a new build you will find. It is titled as a 1985 assembled vehicle and I have clear Ohio title.
