I wonder if this ever sold...

EBAY Description:

I am again relisting this item. It has sold twice now. Both times they buyer has ignored emails or phone calls and had no intention of paying. Neither buyer has asked any questions, made arrangements for paying or even seen the vehicle. Please note a 500 deposit is required within 48 hours. (full payment due within 7 days) I have put blocks on bidders who have no payment issues on their ebay record following a suggestion with an ebay representative. Both buyers have had less than 10 feedback, so I will not accept a bid from anyone who has less than 10 feedback without emailing me first. I have bought and sold many big ticket items in the past and never had a problem. In fact I was always very impressed with the integrity and honesty of the buyers and sellers I have dealt with. Please do not bid without intention of paying (or even looking at the dune buggy). I have 100 percent feedback and intend on keeping it that way. And no I am not looking to trade for an old truck or parts cars. (perhaps an iphone 4s if you have one that works for sprint would sweeten the deal)

Please ask questions before bidding or preferably come by to look at it. Bought this project about a year ago. Tore it all down, No visible rust, sprayed truck bed liner down on floor. Put in old school vw low back seats with some matching inexpensive covers, put in new seatbelts, New shocks all around, chrome tin kit, new brakes (front), master cyclinder, Had the motor rebuilt with new pistons, rings, top end, replaced studs, replaced new alternator, new coil, Had the body professionally painted metalflake cherry red. After putting the engine together and temping up some wires, the motor would turn over but not start. Sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb and started right up and sounded perfect. Would not keep running. Checked gas pump (new gas of course) and it was working fine. So the carb will either need to be rebuilt or replaced. While messing with the carb (cleaning, replacing plunger, etc.) and repeatedly trying to start it, Starter stopped working (Not because of dead battery). I don't know if the starter got jammed (which I have read is a very common problem for vw starters) or actually burned out. So starter and carb will need attention or replacement. All other parts (including wires, fuses, brake lights, reverse lights, speedometer, gas gauge) are included Also there is a very slow leak in one tire (All others are fine and the rubber is good with good tread on all). Beautiful and looks like a lot of fun. Been stored inside garage for last year. Just pulled it out, sprayed it off, and took pictures. Nv Title in possesion but not current. This would be an awesome son father project because all the tough stuff is basically done and it is just about ready to go. The vehicle is located in Concord Ca. so please feel free to email me and set up a time to check it out if you can. I will answer any questions I can (I am not a mechanic, but understand the basics). I have a roll bar for the buggy and I was setting in to see if it fit and it was a little tight. I should have put some towels or something around the edges. I did rub the edges on the inside of the body behind the seats and put some minor scratches on the paint (see last two photos). They are really not obvious or major but they are there. Vehicle is sold as is with no warrantee or returns and I would be happy to assist in any way in transportation on my end. Winner to pay 500 dollars within 48 hours of end of auction and the remainder within 7 days of end of auction. I have listed the vehicle locally so I have the right to cancel auction at any time. Thank you for looking Also, if a buyer withes to use the buy it now option tonight, I can transport it anwhere from the bay area to reno, nv. for no charge tomorrow (sunday) , as I have to go out of town for a day.

On Jul-29-12 at 19:07:33 PDT, seller added the following information:

Update. Put in new starter (rebuild with life guarantee) but battery isn't holding a charge (been sitting for a year) Also replaced the terminal wire from battery to starter. I put on jumper cables to a running vehicle and it turned over nicely. Sprayed some cleaner in the carb and it started right up and ran great. So carb for sure needs rebuild or to be replaced, but the engine is almost a runner and it can be seen and heard running. The starter is no longer an issue and I might be able to get my hands on a good battery tomorrow (but not guaranteed). Looking down the carb, absolutely no spray. I took off the hose from the pump to confirm it was working and the gas was pumping out nicely so again, it is not a pump or filter issue. Key works great to start as long as someone is there to spray carb cleaner or dribble gas in it. I priced a new carb and depending on where it's bought, I think it should be somewhere in the 190 range. Of course a rebuild is probably 20 bucks too. And again, by all means ask questions or come by and check it out if you can before bidding. Thank you
