The body was manufactured by Art Allen in Sanford, Florida. Art manufactured a limited number of buggies and boats in the early 1970's. The body sits on a shortened 1967 pan with new steel floors professionally installed. It is fully street legal and is titled as a 1967 Volkswagen. It has spent it's entire life here in central Florida.

The engine is a new 1600 cc dual-port crate engine (not rebuilt, everything is new) with twin Solex carbs on high-rise intakes. The engine has a mild cam and is very responsive yet runs smoothly. 12 volt alternator. The 4-speed transmission shifts well and is quiet and stays in all gears. Clutch and pressure plate are new.

Brake system has been fully rebuilt with new master cyliner, wheel cylinders, shoes and drums. emergency brake is hooked up and works well. Wheels are chrome 15x8" rear and 15x5-1/2" front. Rear tires are 275/60R15 and fronts are 215/70R15. New htdraulic shocks front, fully adjustable chrome coil-overs rear.

Vintage vinyl-covered fiberglass buckets are used up front with a new vinly covered fiberglass rear seat. The buggy is equipped with (4) chrome buckle lap safety belts. Roll-bar is 2-1/4" steel. The windshield is new and is plexiglass. All gauges, turn signals, lights work and wiring is 100% new.

The exterior and interior fiberglass is finished in Cox Metallic Purple acrylic urethane basecoat/clearcoat. The paint has been color sanded and buffed to a very glossy finish. The paint and overall theme of the car was matched to the original color used on the popular Cox 049 gas-powered dune buggy toys from 1970.

This is a very reliable, very clean buggy that can be used on street or sand. Feel free to ask questions.
