1968 Volkswagen dune buggy. This buggy was just completely refurbished. It was purchased solely for use on our vacation at the beach for a week. Everything was replaced to insure it's reliability.
It is not a show car but a very presentable driver. Have all receipts for everything that was replaced. The following is a list of what was done, fresh 1500 single port engine, NEW alternator, MST serpentine belt system, Pertronix electronic ignition,Optima red top battery & cables, 8mm wires, all chrome, powder coated dual exhaust, high torque starter, fuel pump, coil, stock carb, Center Line Wheels, Tires, lug nuts with locks, front shocks, all brake lines, Autometer gauges, rewired, polished 10 gal.stainless gas tank, front turn signal lights, Sachs clutch & pressure plate, Crow belts, Empi suspension seats fresh House of Kolor lime gold kandy over planet green with HOK poly clear. Some other specifics are Gene Berg shifter, all tube chassis with full roll cage, adjustable four link rear suspension with coil over shocks, aluminum front beam, CNC pedals, CNC hydraulic clutch, chrome tie rods & ends, large rear disks brakes, spindle mount front wheels, no front brakes, stops great! This buggy runs and drives great and has performed very well since it's rebuild however there are a couple things that will need attention. In the video you'll notice dual carbs, they were initially installed and fired engine for first time with those. They seem to run very well but decided to install a new stock carb because I did not want any tuning issues while on vacation. The duals are new Empi ict style carbs, they are included with the buggy. The stock carb for some reason did not run correctly. It idled a little to high but I vowed not to touch any wrenches while on vacation. I'm sure it just needs some adjusting but I'm not touching it, vacation is over and it's sitting in storage waiting for a new owner! The rebuild took place over a four week period working on it every day and I've had enough. The new Autometer speedo works but the stock cable end does not fit, ran out of time to try to find! The Paint looks great but is not perfect. It has a couple small runs and a few imperfections, almost a gallon of poly clear so plenty room for buffing if you want it perfect. Also included is new Crow shoulder harnesses. All lights work with the exception of the drivers side headlight, blown bulb just happened today. It has a clear Va. title and is title as a 1968 Volkswagen. The trans is a built close ratio trans set up for drag racing with welded gears and HD side plate, it is not highway friendly. It's fine for cruising around town. This buggy has a lot of torque even with the 1500 single port. I don't even use first gear, you can actually take off in third if you like and shift once. It would be a very quick buggy with more engine! The only other little quirk is it has a few squeaks in the rear on a bumpy road. I think it's either the heim joints on the four links or the shocks. There is close to 11k invested in this buggy, the reserve is set much lower. It is sold as is. A $200.00 Non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end.
