Ebay Description:

Just turn the key and go. You can start getting the most out of your summer fun right now.

I own it free and clear with no liens.

Very zippy, fun little dune buggy. This is a street legal, garage kept, 1965 VW Dune Buggy. The last two owners before me also kept it in a garage. It has 4-point seat belts with the option to add a fifth point if you plan on using it for racing and need to meet 5-point requirements. The racing seats are polyurethane all-weather seats.

It comes with a tow-bar if you wish to tow it, but it is perfectly ready to drive home.

NO RUST--the frame and floor pans were first coated with POR-15, then the undercarriage was aggressively undercoated. The floor plans were then painted, rubberized, then covered with rubber matting in some places and yellow bed-liner in other places. This thing can be ridden in rain without worrying about rust (although that wouldn't be very fun).

The steering has a brand new urethane coupler. It is well aligned, drives straight and the steering feels good and tight.

It has a brand new shifter bushing and urethane shift linkage, which gives it a good firm feeling when shifting. It is so easy to find the gears that you won't even have to think about it.

As far as the brakes are concerned, all four slave cylinders and the master cylinder have been replaced along with brand new drums and shoes two years ago. It stops perfectly with no pulling, shuddering or squealing.

The clutch is well adjusted and works perfectly.

The engine is a stock 1600cc dual carbureted 1965 VW Type III. It has a brand new hall effect distributor, so you'll never have to worry about adjusting the points and replacing the condenser. This is supplemented with an Accell ignition coil. Both carbs were rebuilt last year. They are perfectly balanced and tuned with new custom linkages. The choke was removed because the chokes on the 1965 Type III's always had problems. You won't need the chokes unless you are driving in 25 degree weather, even then, if you wait 5 minutes it will be warmed up.

The paint is NOT show quality. It has some chips and scratches from people getting in and out. I've tried to take pictures of the blemishes, but the glitter in the clear-coat makes it hard to see in pictures. Regardless, I'm telling you up front that the paint, although it looks good for driving around, it is not perfect. If it makes you feel better, the glitter in the clear-coat distracts a lot from the chips and scratches. There are also some splits in the rubberized coating on the shifter tunnel, but there is no exposed metal.

Shortcomings: The gas cap has two retaining tabs on it, and one of them is broken. It stays on just fine, and I never found it necessary to replace it. Also, the gasket on the oil dipstick isn't very tight. I know this because if I whip it around a really fast left hand turn, oil will slosh up the dipstick tube and leak out. I don't normally drive that fast, so I never found it necessary to replace that either.

It just had its spring tune-up: new plugs, valve-lash adjustment, timing adjustment, carburetor balancing, fuel filter, and oil. It is ready to go to a new owner who likes to zip around town and get lots of attention.

Inspections and questions are welcome.
