Funnybug sez:

1980 with a link pin front axle?..

Ebay Description:

I bought this neat Meyers type VW dune buggy a few years ago from the second owner, a retired Florida rancher who stored it inside and used it to tour around his property. It was then, and now, Florida titled and registered, licensed and street legal to drive and use. It is titled as a 1996 VW convertible, probably because it has a VW 1600 engine. It wears the original factory yellow gel coat, and has never had that finish repainted.

The construction of this vehicle is very strong. Factory square tubular frame, steel chassis factory built, padded roll bar, solid 1 piece molded body with only the hood bolted on.
Engine is 1963 VW 1600 that gets great gas mileage. Rear is 1970 independent rear suspension; front suspension is the very sturdy 55-62 king and link pin - the most desirable for dune buggys.

The auction includes a removable rear bumper, convertible top and frame with rear window, and a tow bar if you want to tow it behind you RV or truck. these parts are pictured in the auction.

I just had the buggy restored @ Micanopy Motor Sports nearby and suggest you address questions to them @352-466-4478.

Recently completed work is;
New EMPI seats and track rails. The driver seat adjust a long ways back and forward; the passenger seat tilts for easy access to the rear bench seat. New heavy duty seat belts. New carpeting installed.
The vehicle was rewired, fuel sender replaced, new cantilevered headlights, new tail lights, turn signal lights and mechanics, and a new am/Fm CD stereo installed.
New clutch with pressure plate, disc, and throwout bearing, 2 new front tires, axles replaced and new boots installed, rebuilt emergency brake.
Engine serviced, carb rebuilt, flywheel and main shaft seals, new exhaust system, flywheel cover, and other various engine tin.

This is a very nice driving, recently refreshed dune buggy that gets excellent fuel mileage, and is street or dune drivable.You could probably not buy a good rebuilt VW engine and trans for the Very low reserve. I hate to admit it, but I am just too old to have this kind of car!
