Ebay Description:

About the Meyers Manx: Beginning production in 1964, B.C. Meyers took components from a VW and his extensive experience working with Fiberglass to create the Meyers Manx. The Manx rose to prominence as the first winner of the Baja 1000 in 1967. It appeared in cartoons and movies with such stars as Steve McQueen and gained a huge following worldwide. So popular was the Meyers Manx that an estimated quarter of a million “replicas” have been produced by over 300 companies over the years. The Meyers Manx is the car that immediately comes to mind when you hear the words “Dune Buggy.”

About this particular Manx: This 1968 model was made by B.C. Meyers in California and was a source of recreational off-road enjoyment for one family at the Algodones Sand Dunes (see www.glamisdunes.com). It was bought by the seller in 1998 and subsequently customized by legendary movie car fabricator George Barris in 2003. There was a popular Hot Wheels scale model made from this exact car as well (see link below). This car has metal flake paint, two-color upholstery, 4-speed manual transmission, racing-style column-mounted chrome tachometer, and many other features that make this a very desirable and collectible car.
