IF YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR JUST THE RIGHT DUNE BUGGY TO COME ALONG; THAT WAS DONE RIGHT, YOUR WAIT IS OVER. 1967 CONVERTIBLE FOUR SEATER DUNE BUGGY THAT HAS BEEN RESTORED FROM GROUND UP, WITH NO EXPENSE SPARED. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT HER FROM AN OLD SCHOOL VW GUY THAT TOLD ME IT WAS A MEYERS MANX. YET, I CAN NOT AUTHENTICATE IT, AS HE SAID " I STRIPPED IT AND LOST THE TAGS"??. MY VW MECHANIC SAY'S IT LOOKS LIKE A MEYERS MANX AND NOT A CHEAP KNOCK OFF, CAUSE THE FIBERGLASS BODY IS VERY THICK AND WELL BUILT. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I BUILT IT LIKE IS WAS THE BEST! I HAVE NOT CAME ACROSS ONE NICER. I TOOK IT TO THREE SHOWS SINCE I FINISHED AND WON TWO FIRST PLACES, AND ONE SECOND PLACE (GOT BEAT OUT BY A 21 WINDOW BUS). DONT TAKE MY WORD, LOOK FOR YOURSELF AND YOU WILL SEE.

CAR WAS TOTALLY DISASSEMBLED, BRAND NEW CUSTOM SHORTENED PANS WERE REPLACED. HAD ONE OF THE BEST METAL/WELDER/FABRICATORS AROUND DO THE WORK. HE DID A BEAUTIFULL JOB AND EVEN HAD HOLES DRILLED WITH DRAIN PLUGS PUT IN THE BACK, IN CASE YOU NEED TO DRAIN WATER OUT IF YOU GOT STUCK IN THE RAIN. I HAVE HUNDREDS OF PICTURES OF ALL THE PROCESS, EVERY ASPECT OF THE RESTORATION. ALL WORK DONE BYE LOCAL VW SPECIALIST. I HAD THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY TAKEN OUT AT THE SAME TIME AND HAD IT REBUILT TOO.

PAINT JOB IS BEAUTIFUL, PICTURES DONT EVEN DO IT JUSTICE; IM NO PHOTOGRAPHER, FOR THAT MATTER, NOT VERY COMPUTER SAVY EITHER, SO BARE WITH ME. HAD BODY TOTALLY SANDED DOWN. PAID EXTRA TO GET POLYUROXY URETHANE SEALER AND URETHANE PRIMER APPLIED. THEN CAME SEVERAL COATS OF GORGEOUS RED BASE COAT (IN THE CANDY RED FAMILY). FINALLY, FOUR COATS OF CLEAR. ALL OF BEST MATERIAL THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR. PAINTED THE WHOLE CAR, FROM THE OUTSIDE TO INSIDE, THE SIDE SKIRTS AND EVEN THE ENGINE TINS. COMES WITH EXTRA TOUCH UP PAINT AND ALL PAINT CODES.

THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT BY PREVIOUS OWNER (OLD VW MECHANIC), AND RUNS LIKE A SCALDED DOG! I HAD IT PULLED OUT BEFORE PAINT JOB SO I COULD GET THE TIN WORK BASED CLEARED AS WELL. IT IS A SIXTEEN HUNDRED DUAL PORT MOTOR WITH SINGLE PORT HEADS. I WAS TOLD THAT WAS A OLD SCHOOL TRICK TO GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE IS SHE HAS GREAT COMPRESSION, SMOOTH RUNNING, AND VERY FAST. HAS REBUILT GENERATOR, NEW DEGREE PULLY, NEW CHROME PULLEY UP TOP, NEW BELT, NEW FUEL FILTERS (INCLUDING THE ONE IN THE TANK), HAD CARBURATOR REBUILT, NEW BATTERY, NEW FUEL LINES, NEW PLUGS, RED PERFORMANCE PLUG WIRES , CLEAR RED DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR, POINTS, PLUGS, CHROME VALVE COVERS, AND TIED IN WITH NEW CERAMIC EMPI TRI MILL EXHAUST WITH BAFFLE. THIS MOTOR IS TIGHT, SOUNDS GREAT, LOOK BETTER, AND RUNS LIKE A DREAM!!

NEXT, I HAD AMERICAN BEAUTY (THATS HER NAME BY THE WAY) TOTALLY RE WIRED. EVERY SINGLE WIRE WAS REPLACED, GONE THROUGH, OR REPAIRED. I DIDNT WANT ANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. EVERYTHING WORKS ON THIS BABY. FROM HEAD LIGHTS (HIGH AND LOW BEAM), RUNNING LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, LICENSE PLATE LIGHT, ALL DASH LIGHTS, TO YES A HORN, AND MOST IMPORTANT, IT HAS WORKING WIPERS! SHE IS TOTALLY STREET LEGAL. SHE EVEN HAS RE VIEW MIRROR, SEAT BELTS, AND CUSTOM SIDE MIRRORS TOO.

TO THE INTERIOR; I PUT IN THE FIBER GLASS VW BUCKETS ON THE VW SEAT TRACK. YES THEY MOVE BACK AND FORTH, WITH THE NICE VW BUCKET SEAT COVERS. HAD BACK SEATS RE APOLSTERY, THEY LOOK AND FUNCTION GREAT. I HAD INTERIOR SPECIALIST MAKE ME A CUSTOM CARPET KIT OUT OF A GOOD QUALITY INDOOR/OUTDOOR CARPET. THIS WAY IT LOOKS GOOD AND WILL NOT HURT IT IF WATER GETS IN. BEAUTIFUL CONVERTIBLE BIKINI TOP THAT SECURES TO THE FRONT, BACK AND ROLL BAR. TOP HAS TWO KNICKS IN IT THAT ARE NOT VERY NOTICABLE. ALL GAUGES WORK PROPERLY; FROM SPEEDOMETER, TURN SIGNALS, HORN, GAS GAUGE, AMP METER, HEAD LIGHT SWITCH, WIPERS, AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. FINALLY, TIED IN WITH NICE GRANT STEERING WHEEL AND T HANDLE SHIFTER.

I HAD EVERY COMPONENT TO THE BRAKES REPLACED. I MEAN EVERYTHING FOR SECURITY, FROM; ALL BRAKE SHOES, ALL WHEEL CYLINDERS, HARDWARE, EVERY SINGLE BRAKE LINE (METAL AND RUBBER), MASTER CYLINDER, EVEN THE RESIVOR. THEN I TOOK OUT THE E-BRAKE SO I HAD ROOM FOR A DRINK HOLDER (CONSOLE), AND PUT IN NEW LINE LOCK BUTTON. NEEDLESS TO SAY, STRONG PEDAL AND SHE STOPS ON A DIME. ALSO, NEW SHOCKS ALL THE WAY AROUND. THEN SHE WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT SITTING ON AN OLD SCHOOL SET OF CRAGER CLASSICS WITH A BEAUTIFUL SET OF B F GOODRICH TIRES. (YES I PUT SOME FATTIES ON THE BACK)

FINALLY, I ADDED SOME EXTRA PERSONAL TOUCHES. I SEARCHED OUT SOME OLD SCHOOL (I THINK THEY WERE OFF AN OLD 40'S FORD) TEAR DROP HEADLIGHTS WITH THE MATCHING FLIP UP GAS FILLER. I PERSONALLY THINK THEIR UNIQUE AND LOOK AMAZING. A WHIP ANTENNA ON THE BACK LOOKS GREAT. CUSTOM SIDE MIRRORS; ONE WITCH HOLD THE AMERICAN FLAG. THEN TIED IN WITH THE OLD SCHOOL HANGING DICE.

SORRY IF I BABBLED ON ABOUT 'AMERICAN BEAUTY', BUT I LOVE MY CAR AND PUT ALOT OF TIME EFFORT IN HER, LET ALONE MONEY. TRUST ME, DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID; IF I TOLD YOU THE MONEY I PUT IN THIS, YOU AND MY WIFE WOULD HAVE A HEART ATTACK; MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN. I HAVE CLOSE TO FIFTEEN GRAND IN THIS THING. YES, I KNOW I AM NOT GOING TO GET CLOSE TO ALL OF THIS BACK. YET, WITH THAT IN MIND, I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE HER AWAY EITHER. THE ONLY REASON I AM SELLING HER IS BECAUSE A 67 SPLIT WINDOW CAMPER STOLE MY HEART AWAY.TAKE IT RIGHT TO A SHOW AND WIN YOU A TROPHY, TOW IT BEHIND YOUR RV, DAILY DRIVE IT, USE IT IN A PARADE, OR EVEN ADVERTISE YOUR BUISNESS ON IT.
